Edward Scissorhands

Edward [Johnny Depp] is a human looking man, but his inventor died before shaping him hands, therefore he's got scissors instead of hands. Practice to prune rose trees, but ugly to the eyes of society. Anyway, he's adopted by a family and falls in love with the daughter. He will have to constate that, whatever gifts he has as a gardener either as a haircutter, he will always be rejected because of his difference. What a pity ! Burton is as good as always : gifted in the art of metaphory and gives to Winona the part of the princess in this modern fairy tale.
Mermaids

Begenning of the 60's. Charlotte [Noni] and Kate [Christina Ricci] are two sisters. One dreams of becoming a nun but falls in love with a nice employee of the Big Cross. The other wants to be a swimming champion. Their mother is the Queen of screwd relationships. The movie tells their lives, clashes etc...What does a rising star of cinema when she meets a rising-star-to-be ? Answer : a film !!! And she [Noni] picks a nominations to the Golden Globe Awards up. Game on !
Night on Earth

A patchwork of 5 stories in 5 different towns. They all deal about cabs. Here is the main one, because Winona plays in it ! An agent talks with his taxi-driver, in whom he sees a future star but she doesn't want to give her cab-driver career up. It's right : when u're gifted to do something, you've got to exploit it. By a fierce independent film maker, a true genius, I called Jim Jarmush, whom Winona The Cab-Queen Ryder dreamt to shoot with.
Bram Stoker's Dracula

Dracula [Gary Oldman] has spent his unlimited life to find Elisabeta. But when he's finaly sure to have found her, it's just Mina [Her], a reincarnation of his sweetheart. The problem is here : Mina's boyfriend won't let him take her. We understand why...Her biggest hit (200m US $ worlwide gross), and a great film. The amazing crue [Coppola, Her, Reeves, Oldman & Hopkins] was under pressure the whole shooting, but they went trough. It's right when she and Deep broke up. A terrible period.
The Age of Innocence

Newland Archer[Daniel D Lewis] leads a peaceful life. He's engaged with the beautiful but kinda limited May Welland [to you ?]. His life is only one dreary day to another, so when Countess Olenska [Micelle Pfeiffer], May's wanderful cousin shows up, you imagine he can wonders. After Coppola, Scorcese, and then who ?! Noni received a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for her interpratation of this poor little girl. Notice Scorcese's vision of the upper class in the XIXth century.

In her free time, she takes videos of her friends : Troy [Ethan Hawke] the brillant wanker, Vickie [Jeanne Garofalo] who's waiting the resultat to a VIH test and Sammie who's definetly in trouble with his sexuality. One day, she meets Michael [Ben Stiller], the perfect guy. She will have to choose between him and Troy, less easy than you think... What she tinks of it : a film likeable & funy to shoot. Likeable & funy to watch.

I think you know the continuation...Another film based the a novell, directed by a woman, which Winona loves. The crue ? Amasing : Susan Sarandon, Claire Danes, Kirsten Dunst, Gabriel Byrne, Samantha Mathis, Eric Stolz... An interesting film that touch you all the more if you let your feelings come out.
How To Make an American Quilt

I incarnate a girl that ain't ok, we know that she's in trouble right from the begening without knowing exactly what happened to her".

The big Al shows us a mixing of scenes taken from 'Richard III' and from discuss sessions of the piece and of the way you've got to play Shakespeare. The Queen Winona II plays Lady Anne. This film was presented to Cannes in 96 under the selection "Un Certain Regard", which could mean for the few ones who do not speak french : a different way of landing the film making.
The Crucible

Salem is a peaceful medieval town, where the people used to lead puritan lives. But it doesn't make it anymore : a few girls pretend they're bewitched by the devil, and instead of a simple purification, a cruel withcraft breaks out. One man, John Proctor is going to face the collective madness, but it's too late... Winona declared she was surprised and disapointed by the bad audience's reception, unjustified. Mind it's her second collaboration with the fantastic Daniel Day-Lewis.
Alien Resurrection

Ripley has been resuscitated thaks to a cloning. The scientists that brought her back to life mixed her own DNA with alien's and they now study the babies alien she gave birth to. But when the crue of the Betty arrives, little aliens become bad boys; the shooting season begins. Ripley replay. But it's not just a continuation : Jeunet has done a terrific job, and to me, this one is the second best, after the first. Notice Dominique Pinon's performance as the heroic legless crippleresence and Winona's, as the 'innocent' android. She says it's a saga she always wanted to play in, and i suggest you saw the downloads, she speaks about the movie, and about JP Jeunet

The 1998 Woody's movie, in which we follow the run of Lee [Kenegh Branagh] in the cruel world of the celebrities. Some people love it, some people hate it. Isn't the that specific to all Allen's films. A great photography in Black and White that shows you every detail with an amazing beauty,especially the luminosity of Winona, who plays a walker-on.
